Florida Here I Come!

On Mother's Day, May 9, Barbara and I headed for her house in Orlando for me to spend several weeks for a change of scenery.  I am still regaining strength from my defibrillator and all the antibiotics that I have been on.

I got to spend quite  a bit of time with Tim, Katie, Luke,Tyler and Ryan.  I had a lot of delicious meals and got to watch the boys play games, put together puzzles and hear Luke read.

A dear friend, Lillian Enfinger, came by for a visit and brought a delicious lunch.  I met Lillian when I lived in Hollywood, FL and Lillian and her husband, Billy, came every year for many years on a mission trip to help the Spanish Ministry and I got to know them then as I would help by preparing meals for them during their stay.  I found out later that their son, Billy, went school with my grandson's Tim and Tom Hawxwell in Orlando.  It is a small world.

Pam flew down to Orlando and rode back with Barbara and I to Atlanta on June 3.

Barbara's Note:  Mom was not recovering from all the antibiotics that she had taken in the last few months so after she returned to Peachtree City, the doctor sent her to have a colonoscopy and an upper GI to make sure that everything was okay.  She had no internal bleeding so that was good news.  The doctor put her on an antibiotic that counteracts all the other antibiotics that she has been on. While Mom's heath is improving she is hard time getting her spunk back.

The New Energizer Bunny

Well, here I am as good as new and good to go!  I  went through the procedure to replace the battery in my difibulator around 9:30am this morning and we were on our way home around 3pm. Pam knew I was alright when I woke up and asked, "What's  for lunch?" I don't like missing a meal!

I will be on antibiotics for a week and will have to wait three weeks to go back to Cardiac Rehab.

Thank you all for your prayers.

Replacing the Battery

On Monday, April 12, Pam will be taking me to the Piedmont Hospital on Northside Drive in Atlanta, to have the battery replaced in my defibulator.  It is supposed to be outpatient surgery to remove the old battery that is under my skin on my upper left side and replace it and sew up the incision.
We need to be at the hospital by 7:30am so we should be home late in the day.

Thank you for your prayers that I will not have to stay overnight in the hospital and have a quick recovery and be able to get back to my Cardiac Rehab in 10 days or so.

A Meeting at the Atlanta Airport

Yesterday, Pam surprised me and took me to the Atlanta Airport to see my niece Mary Lee Brown Gorman (my sister Ruth's daughter.)  She was on her way from Colorado on a trip to Paris. We had a nice visit.  This was the first time that Pam had met her cousin.  It is so good to keep up with family.

Ethel, Eric and Lindsay's Latest Addition

Last weekend, LindsayAnn and Eric got to bring home LindsayAnn's new puppy, Ethel.  Isn't she cute?

Easter Weekend and Amie's Birthday

Last Saturday the Hammarlund clan gathered to celebrate Amie Smith's birthday and celebrate Easter. We decorated cookies and enjoyed the wonderful Spring weather. Pictured are Brian, Melanie, Eric, LindsayAnn, me, Pam, Amie and Byron

I have been going to Cardiac Rehab three days a week for two weeks.
